NHBA selling dreams not helping achieve them!

Construction & Repair

In early 2010 my wife and I discussed joining the NHBA program, a program she had heard of but I was unfamiliar with them and their services. We the then decided to visit the St. Louis office located at 8420 Delmar, Lobby Suite LW St. Louis, M.O. We met with a company representative. He explained the program was aimed at helping people such as us with bad credit purchase a home. He went on to state that NHBA would contact creditors and help eliminate or reduce the debt owed. Everything sounded good so we not only paid the $100 application fee but we paid the $2643.00 program fee. After discussing the contract in person with him we took the program home and read through it again as best we could. We did see the 3 day refund policy but overall we believed the program to be solid... It was not! We were then contacted several days later (way beyond the 3 days) by our "client rep" Heather C. She explained that a credit report would be run and then we would discuss options. Several weeks later we received the credit report with the negative credit items. When we contacted the client rep she explained the paperwork and that these negative items would need to be cleared (something we already knew,) She then went on to talk about I would need to get these items cleared myself, which was totally different then what we were told by the office person. She continued on to say that we would need to open new lines of credit. We continued to correspond over a few weeks each time we were expected to follow up on how we were doing with clearing up our credit and had we opened any new lines of credit (a process which is quite hard with bad credit). Over time we begin to notice that all she was doing was having us do ALL the work to clear negative items, and she would just inquire on how we were coming along with doing that.

Finally we reached a boiling point and decided to move along with pursuing other rental properties on our own as we did not see any advantage in using NHBA. We contacted NHBA and requested a refund of the money we had paid only to be told we would not receive one due to the 3 day cancellation policy. I was furious and then looked to pursue legal action. Later we received a email stating that our account would be placed in a suspended status until we resumed participation

This company lies and mis leads its clients on the things they can provide. I did not need to pay close to 3K for someone to tell me I need to clean up my credit. The services that we were promised were not kept and the client rep seemed only interested in what we were doing and never did anything on her end but make suggestions. My account has been "suspended" for well over a year and I believe I should be entitled to a full refund as the the thing stated in their contract were not provided. I hate the fact they sold me a dream and stole my $2,700. I dont want this to happen to you! I wish I would have seen this website sooner but I have learned a good lesson and to fully research any company no matter how "legit" they may seem. Its a shame this company is making millions off of people who are looking to purchase homes and do better for themselves.

Do not use NHBA you will be ripped off.
