Inspiron 1525 mouse works only 10% of the time

Dell Inspiron 1525 has been useless since new. Mouse works 10% of time. What should take seconds takes minutes.
When computer was new it was bad. Two years later, I am looking at an Apple.

Internet is full of Dell Customers with this problem.
