Printer networking review

I have a network that runs on Windows Xp server though basic workgroup.
I attached a HP P2015 Laserprinter by USB to the server, and shared it
I cannot get new WIN7 machines to connect to the share.
On the WIN7 machines the CHAT doesn't work. The email version of support is not helpful I was unable to resolve the issue by email.
The telephone support is forcing me to pay $39.00 - I'd rather trash ALL my HP products in my 120 employee company.
It is outrageous that HP is not coming up with drivers that can work with WIN 7
