Specialty Business Network Aircraft Sales SCAM — FSBO aircraftsellers BEWARE!

Reading about Specialty Network auto scams on usacomplaints.com alerted me to the fact that the company engages in internet ripoff schemes in a variety of areas. Evidently, Special Network has expanded its operations to also include aircraft being offered for sale by owner. I didn't find any reports pertaining to aircraft on the usacomplaints.com website. However, the basic outlines of their approach regarding autos are the same as described by contributors who were scammed by Specialty Auto after advertising their autos in for-sale-by-owner publications and websites.

After posting ads for my small plane on several FSBO aircraft websites, I received a call from "Robert Rockwell" of Specialty Aero. He gave me a sales pitch very similar to those given by Specialty Auto pitchmen. He made it sound very enticing, no downside to me, the company would find a buyer and handle everything from A to Z, I would receive 100% of my asking price, and all this for a modest fee of only $435. What could possibly be wrong with that? A lot, it seems.

Believing that anything that sounds too good to be true is probably too good to be true, I did some searching on the internet. That's when I found the reports on this website about Specialty Auto, recognized the name and address of the parent company, and the similarities in what was being offered. I also looked up Specialty Network on Omaha's Better Business Bureau and saw its F rating. Aircraft sellers, be advised: This company is not what it claims to be. It is indeed too good to be true.
