In April. 2004 I had Georgetown do some work on my car which included an oil change, NYS inspection etc. The mechanic said I needed brakes and a new tire. I said okay and picked up the car a few hours later. On 7/4/04 I got a flat tire (not the same tire).

When I went to Sears the sales person told me that one of my tires was a different size (smaller) than the others. It turns out it was the one put on by Georgetown. I went back to the garage to let them know and see if we could work out something. They said that since it had been 3 months I would have to pay 1/2 the cost of another tire PLUS return the first tire back to them.

So otherwise for their mistake I was supposed to end up paying 150% of the regular cost of the tire. I refused after laughing at the ridiculousness of their offer and took them to small claims court. The judge also laughed at them and I won easily.

Unfortunately, and not too surprisingly, they refuse to pay. I am now in the process of getting a Sheriff or Marshall to collect. They think they have won and can do whatever they want and get away with it. It wasn't even like they made a mistake by oversight. The guy did it knowingly and admitted it. Even worse, he did this during an inspection.

I want people to know what kind of shady work they do and what kind of dishonorable people they are. I am already in the process of contacting various licensing agencies in NY state.
