No estimate, big bill, kept car for over month!

I had a conversation with one of the mechanics working there and he said he would take a look at my car and tell me what the problem was. So I took him the car and dropped it off. Acccording to him it needed the control arm bushings and control arms. I also had told him to look at the tranny (which he never did). The mechanic called me and said he could get the bars cheaper but I could buy the other parts if nececary. At this point he had my car for 3 weeks just sitting. So I went to pick up my car, went home mad and ordered the set of bushings he needed and looked up prices for the arms and he could get them cheaper. So against my wifes will I took it back to have the work done. He said he would take a look and let me know what the price would be. A week goes by and I call to see what was going on (in the mean time I'm depending on my wife to drive me around), he said he didn't get to it yet but he would that day. So week number two goes by and he said he was getting ready to do my car and it would be ready by Friday and I asked how much is this going to cost. He told me his "girl" was going to figure it out and call me back. So another day goes by and I text him and conviently his girl hasnt done it yet. So Friday he says its done. Now wait a minute, you never gave me a estimate and I never signed anything. I ask him how much, once again his "girl" has to figure it out. Around 3:30 I text him and ask him what is the ball park figure $600, $800? He literally said EH... Next text I got was the total was $1006.83!! I hit the roof and texted my wife to tell her, and lets just say for such a good woman, she called me and him everyname in the book thinking I had something to do with it. Going to pick up the car was more fun. She went off the whole time all the way there. I pull up and he is standing there smiling and waving at me. My wife puts her hands in her lap and informs me if she don't keep them there she is going to shoot him the finger haha. I asked her for the check and she writes it out shes mumbling and cursing under her breath. Now here is the kicker, I get home and he charged me for the bushing I BOUGHT, plus 2 sets at 49.05 when I GAVE him the set I bought! Also, it was aparently 400 too to put them in. He told me they are this christian company and blah blah blah. Now I know why I never see anyone there to buy a car! They are ripping people off
