Erroneously collected personal information without providing a service

GapCar.com located in Richmond, Tx claims to provide cars, on loan, to people who need them. What this means is that should you have an additional car in your garage that you'd be willing to rent to another individual, Gapcar is the broker, of sorts.in this, they attempt to match the persons willing to rent their extra vehicle to individuals who are in need of a vehicle, short term. I was the latter. I researched Gapcar, went on their website and identified a car that I could afford on a monthly basis. As requested, I provided Gapcar with some basic information and completed an assessment. That basic information included my name and birthdate.

After a few days, assuming that my 'application' was being processed, I contacted Gapcar. The number was busy. How ironic is that in the 21st century! So I called again and again and got nothing. I then called a few weeks later to a automated voice saying "this number is temporarily unavailable". I am very concerned that my information may be compromised so I had to put a fraud alert on my credit report and a few other things. Gapcar is a rip off. They promise services that they cannot deliver. If you are in need of a car as I am, find a friend, walk or use public transportation. Don't bother these with these folks, they only collect information and them use it to their benefit.
