Failed State Inspection

Cottman tech FAILED my pick-up truck for a slight crack in the windshield. State law allows for 1 1/4" in length to pass. Depending on how you (they) measured the crack, at best it was 1/16" longer then the allowable 1.25"! Talk about splitting hairs!
I asked the tech if he does 56 in a 55 mph zone! I was told by the tech to 'get the crack repaired". I took the truck to ACE GLASS and they fixed the crack for $65.00 to show Cottman the receipt. I took the truck and ACE receipt back to Cottman... Nope, not good enough for Cottman! I went back to ACE and they said that 'most' repiar shops accept what they did as a 'repaired' windshield.
Note, this crack was not in the line of sight. It was located about 1.5" above the windshield wiper. This shop is jst ball busting. If they use this kind of 'scrutiny' for a simple state inspection, imagine what they are 'judging' when the perceive you 'needing' a repair!
