Country Hill Motors
Sleazy lying misleading and unprofessional

Cars & Transport

I drove by this dealership and saw a car that caught my eye. So I stopped in and talked to a nice salesman who gave me some information about the car. What he told me sounded pretty good so I decided to look into it some more.

They told me that the car was in very good condition and had two previous owners. It had never been wrecked and only had one problem - the passenger airbag had been stolen from the car. (First red flag)

I made an appointment to take the car to a very reputable dealership that is certified in selling and maintaining this type of car, a Range Rover (this is the only dealership in town that is certified to work on these cars). When I came to pick up the car, nobody would go with me, probably because they were too embarrased, and even worse they gave it to me with the gas light on!

When I had it inspected, I recieved the truth about the car. This was a total lemon. There was at least $5,000 worth of work that would immediately need to be done. It was almost completely out of oil and transmission fluid. They had dealt with this car before as a theft recovery and it had secret compartments used for hiding drugs (missing passenger airbag). It had body damage, meaning it had been wrecked. The head gaskets needed to be replaced, the muffler was rusted through, the brakes weren't working correctly, etc...

When I took it back and I showed them the list, the sleaziest salesman immediately started with his slick talking. He said they could fix everything, when another salesman admitted that the dealership I took it to was the only one in town who was able to do mechanical work on this car. He said that they had never even checked anything on the car when they got it. He was arrogant and talked to me like I was a total idiot, and even went as far as to laugh at me when I was starting to leave. I guess he thought I was a sucker - he was wrong!

The Carfax report showed that the car had been through at least 8 states - I am assuming auctions and impound lots.

Basically, these people were very misleading and lied about everything. They told me what sounded good which was nowhere close to the truth. The fact that they didn't even look at the car before trying to sell it, and then letting me drive it alone with no gas, oil, transmission fluid and numerous other problems shows their complete disregard for customer safety. They obviously don't care about being professional or customer service, just about making a quick buck. They are not interested in quality or honest service. This dealership is the epitome of sleazy used car dealerships.

For anyone looking for a used car make sure you do research on your own. Take the car to an independent mechanic and do internet resaerch on the car. Be very cautious and don't trust the salesman. They look at you with $ in their eyes. And for anyone in Kansas City, NEVER go to this dealership.
