Price guaging= Do not go their!

Went to Doc Auto to get my "check engine" light removed to get a smog certificate. The Doc Auto Rep called me after their technician noted that I needed a thermostat and a new o2 sensor. He quoted me 230 dollars for the o2 sensor and 150 dollars for the thermostat -stating that the thermostat needed the housing and everything. I rejected these quotes know better. Sure enough I called O'Reilly's, Winchester and Napa auto parts and the first of all the thermostat was $16.99!! 132 dollars less than what doc auto quoted. Then I rec'd the pricing for the O2 sensor and it was 120 dollars. $110 dollars less than what I was quoted.

Doc auto is obviously trying to make a profit off of their parts. Do not go to them because they cannot be trusted. Now I am wondering if I even needed these items. Did they take as long as they stated?

There are better shops in Santa Cruz.
