I purchased a 2004 Mazda MPV from Cutter Mazda of Waipahu, HI in April. 2 weeks from the purchase date, they called to inform me that my license plates were in and to come pick them up. My wife went to pick them up, and the manager told her that he could not give her the plates because we owed $500.00 for a down payment, and that we would not get the plates until we paid. On our agreement between myself and the dealership, I would finance 0 through my bank. The dealership made (2) contracts, the first one had me 0 financed through my bank, and the second one had me financed through First Hawaiian bank, with a $500.00 down payment, this was in case my bank didn"t finance me, for whatever reason they thought I would not get financed.

I took my contract back to the dealership the next day after they talked to my wife. Basically, they figured out that they gave me the wrong contract, and they "could not find the real contract anywhere", in their paperwork. How convienent of them huh? They finally realized that the contract I had was the wrong one, both by the down payment and by the stated lien holder on the contract. The contract they gave me had First Hawaiian bank as the lien holder, and not my bank.

Fianlly, both the sales manager and the finance manager agreed that it was the dealerships fault/mistake, and that they would take care of it, agreement settled. The sales manager even stated " I guess the dealership is going to have to swallow this one". I thought the word of (2) men from the dealership would be good. Guess again people.

About a month later, I received a letter from a collection agency stating that they had tried to contact me several times to try and collect this $500.00. First of all, I was never contacted by a collection agency, on my word. Second of all, should not the dealership have tried to contact me again before sending this to a collection agency, and after stating that they would take care of it, that I need not worry about it anymore, and that I would not have to pay anything?

Sounds to me like pretty bad business practices, what about you guys?

I contacted the dealership, and the same guy that told me everything was taken care of, now says that he never said that, and he stated that he cannot talk to me since it had been turned over to a collection agency, bastard.

I contacted the collection agency, and first they told me to write on paper and send in what I just told all of you. So I sent it in about (2) weeks ago, then I called today after not hearing back from them, and the lady stated that the dealership basically did not acknowledge my complaint, and that they wanted their money.

Too damn bad Cutter Mazda of Waipahu, you gets no money from me!!
