Jiffy Lube
Does Jiffy Lube use manufacturer specified transmission fluid like they say they do? Make sure you check

I have recently discovered that Jiffy Lube transmission fluid in my Ford Freestyle that is not recommended by the manufacturer, and it is stated that using the wrong fluid may cause damage. My transmission failed, and upon speaking with local transmission shops, one of the first questions that they ask is if I used the correct fluid. It seems that this CVT transmission that is in many cars takes a special fluid. I checked my receipt and they used their normal bulk fluid.

I believe that most people would expect a reputable place like Jiffy Lube to follow manufacturer's specs when servicing their car. I hate to think how many other unsuspecting JL customers are out there who think that they have been doing the right thing for their vehicles when they actually may be doing damage to them. I think that the public needs to be aware of this issue and JL needs to change their practice. They also need to bring all those vehicles back in and put the correct fluid in them. Who knows what else they are doing that doesn't meet manufacturer's spec.
