Kightlinger auto
Kightlinger service repair Faulty engine repair cost us over $5000 and still have no car to drive!

Cars & Transport

We paid for an engine rebuild with Kighlinger auto in Meadville/conneaut lake pa. Originally we paid $1700 for the rebuild with all new parts. We also decided to pay the car off and rebuild the engine so I could finish medical school without a car payment and the car would last, costing another $3700 to pay the car off.

1. We took the motor home after the original build. The initial starting of the engine did rev the engine, but we took the entire jeep and motor back to them. The reving lasted less than 5 seconds and was believed to occur due to faulty timing. Which they admitted to when the car was at their shop the following week.

2. When the car was taken AFTER the reving, we said that we NEED the car and we were AGAIN paying to have WHATEVER was wrong with the car to be fixed at that moment. AFTER the reving! We were paying again to have ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE REPAIRED! Afterwards, we still saw some antifreeze/water... Whatever foreign in the oil. We followed oil change instructions to a T.

3.6 months later, the first real cold spell the engine froze, blowing the motor again. I had it towed to a local shop that said he had no idea what happened without tearing the entire motor apart. All he knew is the oil all spilled out from blowing out the filter from high pressure. We could not afford diagnostics at the time and had the car towed to a jeep dealer a couple months later.

4. Jeep dealer gave us a statement in writing that the cause of the motor problems was a missed head crack and faulty motor rebuild.

5. We took the kightlinger auto service group to small claims court in Meadville, Pa thinking that our statement from the jeep dealer, a certified jeep repair company, would be good enough proof in court that we deserved at minimum a refund of our motor repairs.
6. We lost the law suit because "we didnt make copies of the statement from the jeep dealer, and they were not supeaona'd to court to testify. We didnt think we needed to. Apparently, kightlinger auto knows people in town, appearing to us that the judge was on their side from the beginning. They must know people! I thought we would get a fair trial and justice would be served. Apparently, I was wrong! I know for a fact that my "old person" driving never damaged the engine. I have nothing here to gain now, I got screwed. I would just like to save others from the same fate. I 100% guarentee that we had done NOTHING WRONG, except deal with Kightlinger auto. SO, I thought I would share my experience because I know we could not afford this issue at the time and I am still very very floored, months later, at how justice was not served and we were screwed BIG TIME! I am only sharing this. I have a right to my opinion and the right to share my experience.
