Rip-off! Scam artist!

After reading so many problems with other car lots, I felt compelled to write about my experience with Tom Wood Toyota. I bought a 98 Camry near Memorial day. I had already gone to my bank for financing so I felt confident that I would not get screwed over. Well I learned the hard way.

Since the banks were not open on that Monday because of the holiday, the financing manager told me to write a check for the amount to make sure that I would bring back the car if my financing fell through. I felt this made sense, so I wrote a check. At the bottom I wrote this is to never be cashed. I took the contract to my bank the day they opened. The loan officer look at the contract and stated Tom Wood can't do that. They had two different prices down. One for the actual car and they did not give me hardly any trade amount for my 95 Camry.

To wind this up, the bank said this is very close to fraudulent and we are not going to finance this car and to take it back and they will help me find a different car. I took the car back to Tom Wood and they said that they will not except it, and they were going to cash the check. The bank notified them that the funds were not available for this check, to just take the car back. The financing guy called the bank manager a B@$%h and hung up on her.

The bank let me use their lawyer to make them take back their car but Tom Wood still refused the car. Tom Wood sent my old car to auction with out me having financing for the new car. I called Toyota Company to let them know what was going on. Toyota Motor corp financed me.

The end result was I backed down because I believed their threats. I now have a huge monthly payment. I was also told by my bank, that do to so many problems with Tom wood that there Credit Union will not finance any more cars for them.
