My car dealer pays for a rental while your car is being fixed. Since the dealer screwed up the repairs I had to have a rental for a few hours while they were re-connecting my air conditioner that they had inadvertantly disconnected while replacing a fan motor.

I picked up the rental car at Enterprise on Ina Rd.in Tucson. While I am aware that you should check out the verhicle before accepting it, it is noteworthy that the person that helped me did not tell me to inspect the vehicle. Nor did he tell me go over the vehicle with a magnifying glass.

I picked up the car in the evening and drove a couple blocks to my home. The next day, I went to the dentist in the morning and returned the car about mid-day.

When I turned the car in, the girl that helped me pointed out a small crack in the plastic fender and asked if I had seen it. I told her I had not and that I had done nothing to cause the problem. I had to get down on the ground to look under the bumper to see what might have caused the problem.

It was obvious that someone had driven over a curb or parking bumper and scraped the bumper. It is important to note that the crack was barely noticeable and could easily have been mistaken for a seam that was supposed to be there.

I would have had to get on the ground to look under the bumper to check if a previous driver had damaged it before I rented it. Anyway, they stuck me with a bill for $611.74 for the repairs to the bumper.

If you rent a car from them, you better take your creeper and your coveralls with you to check it out before signing for it or they will screw you for any damage you did not note. I have a friend that used to fix cars for them and he says they do it all the time to make extra money. If they see that you are not careful when checking the car, you might be a potential sucker.

Once you sign for the car, it doesn't matter who did it, Your stuck! It's an easy shakedown for unsuspecting customers. My advice is to take a good 45 minutes to an hour to check every thing you can think of. Perhaps ask for a creeper so you can look under the car as well. Don't forget stains on the upholstery.
