Cottman transmission in norfolk va, towed my car from home to their office. Due to me having equipment in my car they offered to keep it inside. Anyways the point is i was charged 325 to take the transmission out of the car. Finally i called back to check the status of the car and asked for a estimate. They told us it would cost us 2548.69 to repair the car. They gave us the estimate and we agreed that that was to much to pay so we looked around somewhere else.

We were told that we would not be charged towing fees if there was major damage to the car. So finally we called back and explain our situation to them and told them we were not going to pay that much we can sell the car. So we told them we would come pick the car up. Then they said well now we have to charge you 10 a day for 10 days for storage because you didnt have any work down. After we paid them 325 to take the transmission out. And they also charged us 85 for towing.

I called a major car dealer (chevelot) and also faxed them a copy of the estimate from cottman transmission, and they called me back and said that is redicules. They are charging you an extra 1400.00 that shouldnt be there. And all the parts they have listed on the estimate doesnt have to be replaced. I was told they were taking all the parts off and trying to sell me all new parts for more money. And even charging me for stuff that has nothing to do with my transmission. This company bates you in and then they give you an estimate and try to give you a good explanation for these estimates and why you should let them work on your car.

And when you decide to take the somewhere else they add all these extra charges on that would have never been charged if you agreed to let them fix your car. I'm glad i checked around and found out more information be
