Debit Card Charged $125 for $14 of Gas

I was charged 125 bucks when I only got 14 bucks on my debit card. Called them and they told me it was the bank making the charge. Called the bank and it was Kroger making the charge its a 24 hour hold but its is stealing to me because I'm out 125 bucks till the next day.
