Rip Off for Engine diagnostics

I Novembere 2010 I took my Toyota in for diagnosing an idling problem at Central Florida Toyota & Scion. As is typical with many dealerships, they came back with a list of $761of recommended repairs. When I questioned specifically what would correct my problem, the serviceadvisor told me they would have to start somewhere with the list. Most people would interpret this clearly as, let us guess and take your money, if that doesn't correct the problem then we will continue with the list.

Subsequently I called the dealership and spoke to the service manager to get a refund since I was never told what was wrong with my car. The service manager agreed to call me back and never did. Consequently I mailed a letter to the owner. When the service manager called me back it was very ironic that he reiterated the same phrase I had been given by the service manager, "we have to start somewhere." In other words we don't know but let us guess.

So I asked him for my refund since they never performed what was agreed to. He told me there would be no refund. I then toldhim it was very unprofessional for him not to call his customers back when he agrees to. Since he took offense to this, he hung up on me. How pitiful that managers can get away with this without any repercussions. What a sad state of affairs when the alledged experts of your vehicle brand do not know what is causing an idling problem.
