Ripoff Will not quote state minimum requirement for auto insurance

I recently called Anchor Insurance Agency for a insurance quote on my automobiles. I believe the girl's name I spoke to was Helene. She asked me how much insurance I wanted and I explained to her that all I could afford right now was the minimum state requirement.

In response to my statement, she told me that they (Anchor Insurance) do not quote the state minimum requirement and that the agencies minimum offer is 50/100/50 as opposed to the state requirement of 20/40.

I allowed her to quote their minimum, but it was way to high a price for me. I then asked her why they could not quote what the state requires. She said that 50/100/50 is the minimum set by her boss and I would have to go some place else if I wanted the state minimum.

Obviously, I did go to another agent, however, I find it a rip-off. The state of Texas requires us to carry insurance. The minimum requirement is to have coverage at 20/40. Why is it that a Agency that is licensed to sell insurance for the state of Texas will not even quote the minium required by law.

If all agencies do this, some people will not be able to afford insurance that is a law to carry.
