Rip off taxi fare

I went from santa monica ocean ave to mentone ave in culver city on the freeway. This is a 6 mile journey and i was charged $42!!! This is insane!!! The taxi driver said it was because i was outside the santa monica city! If i get cab from my house to santa monica it is half the price!!! If this is the case they should be obligated to tell consumers that the fare will be double!!! This is such a discusting rip off these people who own this company should be shut down greedy greedy greedy
