Damaged my car with their bad gas and the dishonest company will not pay for the repairs, Englewood

On Sunday November 23, I filled my tank up with gas from a Sav-O-Mat Inc gas station in Greeley, Colorado. My tank was almost empty, and I put in 9-1/3 gallons. Since I have a 10 gallon tank, only 2/3 gallons of gas had been in my tank when I filled it.

Monday morning my car would not start. I didn't know if something was wrong with my car, so had my wife take me to school. Monday afternoon I was able to try starting the car again, and it still would not start. I had to have it towed to an auto shop to find out what was wrong.

I was told that the problem is that the gas tank was filled with bad gas. The auto shop has to pay about $150 to dispose of the gas, and it would take about 4 hours of labor. This brought the bill to over $500, and they couldn't tell me what else had been damaged until they had pumped out the bad gas.

I tried to contact the manager of the Sav-O-Mat store. He was not in both times I called, so I called the main office in Englewood, Colorado. I was connected with Al Lemke.

I explained to him what had happened. He kept telling me that their gas was not bad.

He said that the bad gas was from residue of bad gas from other gas stations that contaminated the good gas from their station. I explained that the amount in the tank was less than a gallon before I put in over 9 gallons of their gas, and the car was running with no problems before I filled it with their bad gas.

He said that someone had tampered with the gas overnight. I explained that my Honda Civic has a locked door that covers the gas cap, and can only be opened from inside the car, and the car was locked all night. The only people who have keys are my wife and me.

He said that if their gas was bad, then they would be receiving many complaints about bad gas because it is an 80,000 gallon tank. I have no way of knowing how many complaints he has already had. For all I know he has been getting complaints all day, or I could be the only one. Neither has any effect on the truth which is that the bad gas in my tank came from their gas station.

I asked to speak to the president of Sav-O-Mat Inc. I was told that he was in, but was not available for phone calls. I was told to write him at 7268 S. Tucson Way, Englewood, CO 80112. I asked the name of the president of Sav-O-Mat Inc, and was told his name is Mr. Calkins.

I am waiting to find out how much more damage has been done to my car. The bill is over $500 and rising.
