Bought three pairs of front axles and none fit! Parts store from h

Cars & Transport

It is NOT the fault of the people who work here that the car parts that we bought here were mislabelled —they did their best to help us get the right part.

This goes back to corporate in springfield, missouri when they chose to buy what is apparently cheap foreign-made parts!

I like the car I have now. It is PAID FOR AND NO REPO MAN IS GOING TO COME AFTER IT.
The insurance is cheap too.

After 20 years, it is time to replace the front axles before one breaks while we are on the interstate and get run over by a semi.

My cousin is a retired GOODWRENCH mechanic who has worked on GM products and he offered to replace the axels for me if I would buy them. OK.

So we went to the O'Reilly's Auto Parts store that is walking distance of the house and I bought the first two.

He said he had to have some tools so I bought those too. My nephews all know how to work on cars too as they are in a car club and make their own repairs.

The original axle broke. It was in real bad shape!

The one from O'Reilly did not fit. IT WAS FOR A LIMO, HEAVY-DUTY SUSPENSION!!!

Not only that those expensive tools broke too —maybe they were made in some third world sweatshop factory!

Grinding wheels did not work, the drills were mediocre and did not work at all... Horrible tools...

Another walking trip to O'Reillys with those da*ed axles in the sun.

They found what THE COMPUTER SAID was the right set and the numbers on the box matched the number on the computer which meant that these axles would fit —like h*l!

The second set was too long and did not fit. Did not have what it needed for the anti-lock brakes that i have on my car... The computer messed up by not having the numbers right in oo long and he gets is the first place.

I wanted to give it up, go to napa or the cadillac dealer and get a rebuilt axle kit for $150-$175 and just put that on but he said that he was going to give the o'reilly store another chance because they had been so nice to him.

Well, this time the c clip/snap ring on the axle gets hung up in the transmission because the da* axle is too long - again!

It is obvious to me that the data entry people who are supposed to key the right parts into the computer using the right numbers do not give a damn and maybe they are outsourced from a third world company just like the mechanic hand tools here seem to be, or at least the ones we bough..

My car has been down for six days and even though i have cash it looks like i will have to go to a mechanic with a full service shop now. I am glad they give cash discounts.

I am stranded here and within walking distance.

And we have paid out about $300 so far.

Before i sue, i am going to give them a chance to make it right but i am not holding my breath.

I have written to their corporate office in missouri... Then, if no response, the war is on!
