Cars & Transport

I am writing to warn other potential customers of this company's dealings before they become a victim like I did.

This is what happened: My vehicle was damaged in a rear-end collision on April 6, and required a custom paint repair to the bumper. Because of the custom paint, the insurer, Progressive Insurance, was unable to send the vehicle to one of its network repair shops.

On April 16, I called the phone number provided by Jefferson Collision Center's website to inquire whether they could accommodate the custom paint repair to my bumper. The representative of the shop said that matching the custom paint would not be a problem and that the work could be done quickly. I dropped my vehicle off around 9:00 A.M. On April 19, and was told to follow up in a couple of days regarding the completion of the work. I paid the company $392.48 in advance of the work being completed.

I called on April 21, and was told the work was done, and that I could pick up my vehicle on the following morning. I went to inspect and pick up my vehicle around 8:00 A.M. On April 22, but it was clear that it was not repaired to satisfaction. Specifically:

There was still primer showing through the paint in more than one location on the bumper.
The chrome tail pipe had red paint sprayed on it.
There were bubbles in areas of the paint, along with textured marks throughout some portions of the bumper.

Additionally, the bumper was never removed, as instructed, to be assessed for unseen damage in which to notify Progressive of.

I spoke with the shop representative and expressed my dissatisfaction with the work and asked the work to be redone. The representative was annoyed that I was not happy with the work, but said he would redo it ten times if that is what it took. I requested that the work be done a second time - correctly - and left my vehicle with their shop again with hopes it would be completed satisfactorily. I was told that my car would be worked on that day.

Later that afternoon, around 4:00 P.M., my husband called the shop to check the progress of the repair do-over. We were informed at that time that the repairs had not been done and that the car had not been worked on at all that day. The company representative proceeded to argue with my husband about the original repair work; the representative argued that the original repairs were done satisfactorily and that he did not understand why we were not happy with it. Since my vehicle had not been worked on that day and since by then I had been without a vehicle for four days, we decided to just come and pick up the car, ask the shop to return the money we had paid, and we would take it to another shop that was capable of handling the needed repairs.

When I picked up my vehicle that evening, April 22nd, I attempted to communicate with the representative and inspect the bumper on site to confirm that no additional work had been done. But, as I tried to do so, I was rushed off the property. As it turned out, upon further inspection of the car at my home, we found additional damage to the vehicle body that was not there before. There was new damage to the passenger door of the vehicle, including two dents and multiple scratches.

Progressive Insurance took pictures of my car before we dropped it off at the shop. The pictures clearly show no damage on the passenger door.

I called the shop shortly after I left, in order to discuss the additional damages to my vehicle. The representative said at first that if I provided proof that the damage was not there prior to dropping the vehicle off they would take care of it. I called the shop on April 23, to obtain an email address to which to forward the Progressive pictures to their company. At that time I was told to have my attorney contact them.

I have had estimates done on my vehicle of the additional damages and they total $1800.00.

I have had my car re-inspected by Progressive and they confirm in writing that the repairs are not done satisfactorly.

I have mailed the owner, Luis Villanueva, a certified letter enclosing the estimates and pictures of my vehicle and when speaking with him he told me all he is liable for is the bumper and again told me to have my attorney contact him.

I have never been in a situation like this and I hope by my writing this no other consumers become victims of this mans bad business dealings, poor workmanship, and dishonosty. No one should have to experience what I have been through. This man knows the damage to my vehicle happened on his property. They have surviellance cameras on the property but Mr. Villanueva says I cannot view them until we are in court. Why does it have to come to that? Consumers beware!
