Mile High Recovery and Towing
Parked near busy restraunt, no signs posted, towed car, $275 ransom

We were parked at a very popular Mexican Restraunt in Denver Co called Benny's on a busy Friday night 5/14. The Restraunt parking lot was full and street parking not available (full). There was a vacant parking next to the restraunt vacant with no signs posted. My wife and I parked on the lot and went into the restraunt to eat, when we returned, our car was gone. I searched the large parking lot for any sign and found a small card board sign on a pillar near the back of the lot, it was Mile High Recovery and Towing. I called the number and the person seemed to expect my call, was very rude. I told him that he stole my car and I was calling the police. He said go ahead and hung up the phone.

I called the Denver Police dept and told them the story. They just assumed I parked illegally and told me there was nothing they could do. My wife called and then they gave us a address and said to bring the keys and $275. The impound lot was lot was in a bad part of town with no lights. A big fat hispanic man got out of a black truck and opened the pad lock and proceeded to process the transaction. To me this seems like piracy and totally illegal. This has to be stopped. They lurk in the back of the lot in their black truck at night hoping to find some unsuspecting person not to read their small sign and then tow their car as soon as they leave for the restraunt. This can't be legal. I will be pursuing legal action. I am writing to warn the general public and beware of these low lifes who think this is honest work.
