Janesville RV Center - Owner JR Tofte ripoff dishonest fraudulent consumer fraud and deceptive business practices

We purchased a travel trailer from this company. The sign in the trailer said it was a 1996.

The purchase agreement which we signed and Janesville RV signed said it was a 1996. The 90 day warranty said it was a 1996.

We paid for the trailer with a personal check for the full purchase price. They said they would deliver and set up our trailer.

They told us when we come to have the trailer delivered we would have a walk through to make sure the awning and everything inside and out was in good working order. When we came to have it delivered they refused to give us a walk through because they were too busy and didn't have enough time.

We then said, but thats what you promised while we were paying for the trailer. And what happens now if something is wrong?

JR Tofte's exact words were, "What do you want for buying a used trailer, you'll get to look at when you open it after we take it to your campsite."

They delivered it. Put it on the site, dropped the jacks down, and only gave us about a five minute walk through very briefly explaining how it worked. They said they had to go because they where too busy.

1. When you set up a trailer the jacks have to be put down but then you have to have it leveled with bricks so it doesn't move around. 2. A walk through is suppose to be like when you buy a house, you go through every inch and make sure everything is in good working order.

Obviously we didn't recieve either promise. After opening the trailer we found alot wrong with it.

1. Awning was ripped and the rail was broken. 2. Roof had some holes where it needed to be resealed. 3. Both gas tanks had illegel fittings. 4. City water connection was cracked.

5. The worst of it, the trailer was a 1994, not a 1996. And when we recieved the title the vin number was not the same as what was stamped on the trailer.

They never honnered our 90 day warrenty either. Well we sued them and won, but we just wanted people to know that if your going to buy a travel trailer, you probably should not try and shop at Janesville RV in Janesville, Wisconsin.

This whole ordeal took alot of hard work on our part and our attorney's part totalling about 18 months to get it resolved.

And took more money away from the tax payers of Wisconsin because they would not settle out of court, and it went to a two day jury trial. Imagine that!
