Shady mechanic

On my first visit to Gearhart I went in for a smog check. I got friendly service and assistance. But at the end I was charged and additional $10 for parts. There are no parts required in a smog check and this fee was on top of the usual charge for certificate and filing. I would have tipped the mechanic, but that was his tip as far as I'm concerned.
I went back to Gearhart's a second time (silly me). This time I was planning a road trip and needed an inspection/diagnostic. My car was having problems starting. This is a AAA approved facility so I assumed they would do a complete "86point" inspection. I was charged $90 and told to leave my car overnight.
I also asked how much they would charge to replace a fuel filter which I had already purchased. I intended on doing the work myself, but did not have the necessary telecoping tool required. (The repair manual lists all tools and work necessary.) A mechanic at a lube station offered to do this for $20 as it was a simple job; It required removing two bolts to replace the part. The clerk at Gerhart's proceeded to tell me that they would have to remove my front entire front end (lied) and gave me a rediculous quote of $160. I should have asked for my keys a this point but I needed the inspection.
The next day I received a call from the Gerhart's regarding my inspection. They said I needed a new starter. I had the work done and went to pick up my car. The car started right up and I drove it less than 5 miles to my home. I opened the hood to my car and checked the oil. The oil had been drained from my car. It was bone dry. I did not want to give these people a third chance to screw me over so I bought 6 quarts of oil and filled my car. There was no apparent leak and I have had no problems with low oil before or ever since. So, obviously the oil was intentionally drained from my car. I'll never go to Gearhart's again and I will definitely not suggest this garage to anyone. They are just another bunch of crooks who will take advantage every chance they get.
