Fraud, Misrepresentation, sweet talking salesman rip-off Lies

We saved and paid off debts for five years to be able to afford a used Harley. We still could not afford one but borrowed $12,000.00 to purchase a new 2001 Yamaha Silverado from this dealer.

The salesman gave us all kinds of problems requiring we provide him with a lifelong history. We informed the jerk we were paying cash and was not going to give him our history.

We went to the front to file a complaint with the owner, who has three dealerships under one roof, Honda, Harley and Yamaha. A smooth talking Harley salesman listened to our complaint and suddenly had the perfect 1989 Heritage Softail Classic we had wanted, for exactly the price we could pay, $12,000.00. What a coincidence. However, it was in the far back room, he explained how the bike had been completely gone through by their service department and was road ready except they had not cleaned it up and there were other buyers looking at it and if we wanted it, we'd better get it quick, two reasons, someone else was interested and number two, if we waited until they cleaned it up in a couple of days, we would have to pay another thousand dollars, better hurry!

We were first time buyers, all excited that the good hearted, sweet talking salesman was wantinbg to see us get this GREAT DEAL. We hurried and finalized the deal. Being January we didn't get to check it out for a few weeks. When we did we checked the oil, it was filthy and a quart and a half low. When we contacted them they refused to answer our calls for weeks and not until we had sent three letters and made two phone calls.

Then finally after all the trouble we found out someone had loosened the primary chain so the bad engine bearings could not be heard. We reported them to the BBB, the State Consumer affairs board, sent proof of their lies, including a letter from the owner stating "HE WAS SORRY FOR THE MISREPRESENTATION" we had received with our purchase and his only offer was a free oil change. His continued responses to all the reports we filed was that me and my wife were lying, that we were having "BUYERS REMORSE" indicating there was nothing wrong with the bike, but that we just didn't want it.

Now it is 8 months later, 9/3/01. We just got the bike back after we had to pay another Harley Davidson dealer, "STEEL" of Chattanooga Tennessee $3,037.85 to completely remanufacture (at the Harley Davidson engine remanufacturing plant) the engine, which according to DILE M. BROWN, owner of Knoxville Harley Davidson was nothing wrong with it. Evidence would indicate we are not the liers. We also had to replace the primary chain, ignition switch, voltage regulator, cam pickup sensor, vacuum operated electric switch, main breaker, light circuits and guess what, the bike still needs several more dollars and hours in the shop to find out why it won't run with the lights on. More money that we don't have and will have to not ride this whole season so we can save up to put it back in the shop and fix all the other problems. It also had NO SADDLEBAGS, BAD WINDSHIELD, RUSTY and PEELING CHROME, MAJOR PAINT CHIPS and SCRATCHES among numerous other cosmetic damage.

We have a stack of complaints filed and his responses repeatedly telling everyone that we were lying. If anyone would like to see the proof in his own letter of lies and misrepresentations, i will be happy to show it.in the event you people are planning to buy, rent or lease a Honda, Yamaha or Harley Davidson motorcycle or any parts or accessories in the Great state of Tennessee, take my advice, don't deal with this company, they are liars, cheats and major rip offs. We now have well over $16,000.00 invested in a 1989 motorcycle and will eventually spend another several hundred before all the mechanicle problems are corrected and we can ride. We may never get justice because the BBB and others are satisfied not to step on these rich peoples toes, but BEWARE, we will not stop telling our story and showing his letters to every potential customer who will listen and be WARNED!
