West Coast Auto Sales
Beware of internet auto dealers, facts stated are not true

Cars & Transport

I would like to make a complaint about West Coast Auto Sales of Phoenix Arizona. They had ran an internet posting, and they still are, about a 1988 T-Bird Coupe Turbo, Rare! The add stated One owner, 5 speed turbo, black on black, perfect in and out! Fast, reliable, ice cold AC, very unique car, a blast to drive. I then called West Coast Auto Sales to inquire about this car. I was directed to a salesman, Rick, inquiring about different items that had been listed in the ad. I asked Rick directly if there were and dents, he said "no", I asked about the motor, and the interior as well, again his response was "everything was perfect." After the conversation and based on the internet ad we asked if we could make a deposit on the car of $500.00, they said they would hold the car for us for $1,000.00 until the end of July, so we could make arrangements to travel from Colorado to Arizona to look at the car and complete the transaction. He assusred us that was alright, and we informed him it would be by the end of July.

We arrived in Arizona the last weekend of July, and arrived at the dealship that Saturday morning at 10:00 am. We were shown the car and first thing, the car wouldn't start, the lot attendant tried using a jumper box, that did not work, and he ended up putting a new battery in before the car would start. Upon inspection of the exterior of the car dents, and scratches were found. The interior was not black on black as stated and had parts and peices missing from the inside, and no spare tire in sight. We declined to purchase the car and are still awaiting our $1000.00 deposit back, which is stated would be be returned in event that we chose not to complete the deal.
These folks are not members of the BBB, as stated on their website, they beleive that a Car Fax report is not accurate, I am sure this is due to the report received on this car noted more than one owner, and two bad accidents, one with frame damage.

All in all we have spent not only money, but time as well now just to recover our deposit, that would not include plane fare, room, meals... Ect. My advise is just be careful, you really don't know who is on the other end of the keyboard! We do have documentation of the above stated facts.
