Hudson Valley Volkswagen
Service departments will NOT do warranty work

Cars & Transport

Have had several VW's and my experience with this dealership has been a waste of my time.in the year 2001 I brought my first factory warranty covered VW to this dealership after recieving a recall notice in the mail. I was leaving to drive to SC in 2 days so I brought it in for servicing and to fix this recall.

The recall was to replace an ABS part that could cause the vehicle to catch on fire. Warnings for this included flashing lights (including check engine) and effected driveability. I never had a problem but did have this recall item fixed.

About an hour from SC everything described in the notice began to happen. The check engine light was flashing and it was not driving right. I took it to a VW dealership and when the part was removed I was told and SHOWN by the technician that the part was dirty and unreplaced.

I didn't use them again until 2008. This time I have a Passat, and have taken it in about 5 times for the check engine light. Funny, I keep getting the same codes and they keep doing stupid things to fix it. Usually I bring it in, then they do something ridiculous like clean the wires and reset the light, and it comes right back on again. My mechanic confirms the same exact codes each time. There has been times when I don't take it back and the light ends up going off on it's own.

Other than the check engine light coming back on for the same codes, there have been two other problems worth mentioning. My mechanic noticed oil all over the bottom of the trans, and I brought it in to VW asap. They supposedly changed the trans gasket. At my next oil change after the fix my mechanic asked me why I hadn't fixed the car since it was under warranty and all. The fluid was still all over the underneath of my car... So sure enough I took it back. They replaced the gasket. Again. During one of my services my tire pressure light kept coming on even though the tires had proper psi in each. At a later appointment with my mechanic again, he asked me why I had put 50 PSI in each tire!!! I never had to adjust the tire pressure, so I believe that VW was kind enough to get that light off for me by over filling my tires.

Needless to say, Hudson Valley VW does NOT do warranty work. They take your car in, probably charge VW for work undone. I don't believe it is a coincidence that if I have a problem it's never fixed the first time. This is obviously a practice of theirs since at least 2001. I love VW's and prefer to have a vehicle under warranty, however; I will not EVER buy a VW again unless I move from the area and have access to a better, and more honest service department.

I updated my contact information before problems even began with this service department for the survey and I have never recieved one. I know that THEY know it won't be good, so I'm sure that it was not corrected for this reason.in fact, I think I'll call there today!
