Can't Find Gap Insurance We Paid For When Purchased Van!

I purchased a Dodge Caravan for my wife in 2007. As shown on my contract, and encouraged by the dealership, I also purchased Gap insurance. I was told that this insurance would provide coverage in the event the van was stolen, vandalized, etc from what the bank would pay and what was still due on the van. We thought this was an excellent idea, so we purchased the insurance. The purchase price is shown on my contract.

As we all know now, Dodge Premier closed. Unfortunately, my wife's van was stolen earlier this year. I went to Dodge Premier and how shocked was I to see that they were out of business! I have tried, my bank has tried, to no avail to find out who my gap insurance is under.in the meantime, our regular auto insurance paid the bank but of course it didn't cover what we still owed. No my credit is being demolished (as is my mother-in-law's who co-signed for me!) and nobody seems to have any answers. Finally, I got a hold of Protective Western Gap Company and they said they have no record of my insurance policy with them from Dodge Premier! As it stands now I am indebted to the bank for over $6,000 (which I don't have even a bit of) unless I can find this gap insurance, file a claim (which you are supposed to do within 90 days of the incident) and pray they will pay the bank.

Has anyone had any success in finding who Dodge Premier filed bankruptcy with, have they moved under a new name, or any information? I read that a couple last November purchased a car and never received their tags & title. If you read this, what did you do to get that info once the dealer closed? Please someone help!
