Drive Time
Wouldn't refinance loan

Drive Time wouldn't refinance the remaining balance of my loan after my Mazda Millenia was totaled. I owed $9800 on the car of which my insurance company paid $4200 leaving a balance of $5600. I have paid $400 dollars a month since March so Drive Time has gotten well beyond what the car was even worth. All I wanted was to spread the remainder of my balance over what was left on my term. Didn't think this was an unreasonable request but they denied me anyway. They want me to finance another vehicle through them, which I refuse to do (I've been raped enough), in order to get me more upside down in a payment and keep me hooked. They are like drug dealers who just want you to keep coming back until they bleed you dry. It's obvious that I just don't want to do business with them anymore. My only other choices are to keep paying $400 a month for a car I don't have or not pay and have it go on my credit. I am very willing to pay the money owed, I just want them to be reasonable about it. They've given me the excuse that they can't refinance without collateral but they are willing to keep accepting my $400 a month payment without currently having any collateral. The car is already totaled. Why not take steps to ensure they get payment from me rather than anger me to the point of not paying at all. I already have a house and I'm buying another car with cash. I'm at the point of just not paying and waiting the seven years for it to fall off. I already have enough credit cards and don't need any more credit. It's just not good business by Drive Time. Stay away. It's not worth dealing with them.
