I too purchased a warranty from these people. And I was and F&I Manager for 5 years so I know what warranty coverage is all about.

I was also told that my car was "close to the cutoff" but was told that the manager approved the "over ride" and I would be able to purchase the product today but I had to do it then and there.

I was transferred to Jason who explained the details of the warranty. I asked him specifics about the various components that were covered (remember I was an F&I Manager for 5 years, so I know what to ask) with regards to the transmission, 4 wheel drive, power window motors, air conditioning, etc. I was told that everything was covered with the exception of belts, fluids and hoses and that this warranty had no deductible.

Figuring I had covered all my bases, I bought the warranty. This was in December. I was told I had to wait 60 days or 1500 miles, which ever came first. That was fine, I had not had any problems with my car, did all the regular maintenance work and had even had a factory warranty from Chrysler until it ran out.

I am a firm believer in warranties! When I got my paperwork, I glanced over it and tried calling the customer service number numerous times to discuss various parts of the contract. It was well within my 30 day cancellation period, but after being on hold for over 45 minutes at a time waiting for someone to come on the line and talk to me, I didn't have the time to wait for someone. My time is valuable too... I am a mom and I work full time.

At the end of April, my A/C unit was not blowing as cold as it should be. I took it in to be looked at and was told that the evaporator was leaking. I presented my US Fildeus card and was on my way in a rental car. When the shop called me to tell me that I was going to owe $1400 for the repair of the A/C I about fell out of my chair. I told them that was impossible because of my warranty. It was then I was told that they only pay up to $500 for the repair of an A/C unit!

I called US Fildeus right away - again on hold for 57 minutes - and spoke to Michelle who basically told me, too bad, we are not paying anything above the $500 limit of liability. I was then given to a supervisor named Denise who told me I did not ask specific enough questions when I purchased the warranty! How much more specific was I supposed to get. I asked what wasn't covered and was told belts, fluids and hoses and no deductible. At no time was I informed about a limit of liability.

Had I been able to get a person on the phone when my paperwork arrived, so that I could discuss it, I would have cancelled it within my 30 day period. But how can a CSR supervisor actually have the gall to tell a customer that their questions were not specific enough? My response to her was Jason failed to provide full disclosure and that my warranty was purchased under false pretenses and basically under duress because let's not forget, if I didn't buy it then, I would be "black listed" from buying it in the future.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and also with the Federal Trade Commission. I am not done yet. I will file as many complaints as I can until I can get someone to stand up and take notice. If anyone has any suggessions of where else to file a complaint, please pass it on.

As for anyone else in the same boat as me, don't give up. Keep fighting. Companies should not be able to operate like this and prey upon honest, hardworking, decent people. Remember, David did take down Goliath!
