Car repair that went wrong

My car had broken down at end of 2008. I had my car towed to Aamco Transmissions to have it repair. I was told that the timing belt and thermostatneed to replace and heads need to rebuillt. The total of repair would be $1,622. I went to pick my car on 30 Jan. I paid the repair fees. Then mechanic brought my car out and ask why is make that noise. He said I think it is the pistons. He also told me to bring the car back in ten days.

As soon as begin to drive off the lot, the car begin to smoke and pull over. The car wouldn't start back. I call the manager to let know the car has broken down. So, he came and pick up the car. Tell me that he was suppose to let me know before I can down there that car wasn't ready and would cost another $1,800 to get fix. I ask could he do repair for free or atleast give me discount since they weren't finish the work. He told that have done their part and now is my responsibility to pay for the repairs.
