On the evening of March 31, I went to Fair Exchange Auto to look at possibly purchasing a new vehicle. After an hour of being shown different vehicles that were not to my satisfaction, I was highly pressured by several male employees and was led to believe I was at the point of no return and had to purchase a vehicle. As a single, young woman having never purchased a vehicle and being misled and bullied about my rights, I settled on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. During the financing portion, I was pressured by Marco L. To falsify certain income information and contact references to get approved for sub-prime financing of 25% interest. After returning home with the vehicle, it was discovered that there were several cosmetic, functionality and mechanical flaws with the vehicle. On April 1, within 24 hours of purchase, I attempted to return the vehicle by myself, when I was again bullied by several male employees into believing that I was not able to return the vehicle. I returned later that afternoon with my uncle and was able to return the vehicle, but was denied my $500 down payment refund. I am currently working with my bank to dispute the $500. The purpose of this complaint is to provide a warning to other people in my situation about the unfair, sexist, and unethical sales practices of this business. I am also appalled at the fact that any business would sell a vehicle in such deplorable condition to anyone, much less taking advantage of an inexperienced woman.
