So wrong financial

I had an acident, the insurance company paid and the dealership sold the car at auction, total of 11,000$, I settled with triad over the phone for anadditional 2500.00$ sent them a check for 1800.00$ with a promise to pay the balance in payments. When I contacted them again they said the guy I made the arraingment with was no longer there, and that I owed Triad the entire 11,000. They tried to take action against me in court but I was not working at the time, they ask for bank account records and such so the case was continued for another time. At the next court date I appeared with my papers and they did not even show up. I have not heard from them at all, however that 11,000.00 is still on my credit and they have denied I ever sent them money or spoke to anyone. What is going on!!
