Longwood Industries
Would not refund money as promised for nonperformance

Cars & Transport

Longwood Industried promised through "BigLot" to sell cars at your asking price or your money back. They charge $150 for the ad and promise to refund all minus their $29 fee. What they don't highlight is that you only have 10 days after the ad expires to request a refund. Since it's been about 60 days since you signed a contract, it's hard to remember all of the details.in Sept or Oct I advertised with Longwood Industries on BigLot.

I received absolutely no responses to my ad for a 2000 BMW 323 Ci Convertible. I was forced to trade it at a substantial loss. I requested a refund from Longwood Industries on 12-9-08, about 3 weeks after their "10 day following ad expires" rule. I heard nothing back. On 2-26-09 I called Longwood Industries to track the refund process. They had received my request for a refund, but refused to refund my money because my request for a refund did not fall within their 10 day parameters.

The woman I talked to denied that there was anyone, ie a supervisor, who I could talk to about their arbitrary 10 day parameters. After several times requesting their physical address and to talk to a supervisor and receiving no adequate response, I told the woman I would report them to the Chamber of Commerce. She then asked for me to hold and she'd see what she could do. She offered a 50% refund. I refused and requested a full refund. She then put me on with someone else (John?) who reterated the 50% offer. I again refused feeling scammed by this whole thing. I threatened again to report them to the Chamber of Commerce giving them another chance to refund the whole amount minus the $29. They refused.

On 2-27-09 I called the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce to report this, and they referred me to the Better Business Bureau. I reported Longwood Industries to the Better Business Bureau's web sight. I have requested a full refund minus the $29.in my research on Longwood Industries on the web and in talking to the BBB in Roanoke, I have found that they have had 118 complaints to the BBB against them in the past 3 years. I don't know if those who have complained have also complained on this sight.
