My vehical broke down on a sunday afternoon and I stopped at checker auto parts to buy a book on the car, the gentleman at checker suggested that I call Maricopa discount auto repair because they advertise free towing. I called and someone from the company picked up the car, never asking for a signature of authorization. Monday morning I phoned to see if they had a chance to check out the car and was informed that it was the altinator and woud be $725.00 I told the person that I was speaking with that I was going to have the car picked up I was not going to pay that amount, I was then informed that the tow and diognostic was $200.00. I spoke with Scott at mountain valley towing who said he would pick up my vehicle I explained to Scott about how I felt this guy was taking me for a ride and charging an outragous price for the free tow. Scott offered to take the money to Frank and pick up the vehicle, I agreed, when scott called Frank to let him know what was going on Frank up'd the price to $245.00 and refused to release the vehicle without a signature, I called Frank and asked him to fax me something to sign he said he would when he got off work at 6:00 pm.By Saturday morning I was very upset this guy still had not faxed anything and still refused to release the car, It took me driving from Chandler to Maricopa and hunting down an officer from the sherriffs office to do a civil standby finally after Frank had accused me of trying to get a stolen vehicle released and me having to go get cash because he refused the money order from my bank he release the vehicle and asked the officer to have me lease his property. Frank was backpeddaling so badly that it was evedent that all he wanted was to give me a hard time and over charge me. Frank stated to me that the reason he charged so high is due to his overhead, Franks shop is in a tiny shed out in the back of his house and according to the Maricopa Chamber of commerse he does not even have a buiseness license.
