Advertised a car for sell on craigslist followed the steps and scammed was scammed for $2200

Cars & Transport

I found a car on craigslist where the seller was selling a 1996 acura TL for $2500. I followed up on the email from the seller and was told they would accept $2200 for the car. The seller told me that he was in the Air Force, stationed at a military base in Fargo, ND.

He was going to be sent to Iraq and needed to sell the car. I was told that the car was fully insured through Ebay Vechicle Purchase Program and would be shipped to me at no charge. I was sent information on how to start the process of buying the car which i thought came from Ebay.

I were to fax the receipt to 1 (720) 920-8069 which was suppose to be Ebay Financial Department and wait for a response confirming the payment was made. After the confirmation was done, it would take 2-3 days for me to receive the car. I would then inspect the car and confirm on my acceptance.

I never heard from ebay or the seller, and found out the money was received 20 mins after the information had been faxed. I thought the seller lived in Fargo, ND and found out the money was received in Houston, TX

The seller is under the name Martin Erwin and is using the email address mecach@msn.com

I am a single mother of 3 and was scammed out of $2200 that he took from my family.
