Cycle Shack
Polaris cycle shack was supposed to replace a piston, cylinder and O-ring in my sled. $800.00 in parts and labor. Long story short, I got ripped off

Cars & Transport

For those reading this report, I thought you should know I started with my snowmobile cutting out at about half throttle or more. I took my sled to Cycle Shack and asked if they could figure out what was wrong with it, Larry the owner told me Yes. So I left my sled at the shop and asked them to call me when they reached a conclusion.

After several days, they did not call, so I called back, only to find out they had not even looked at it yet. About 2 weeks later, I got a call, Toby a customer service rep, and the wife of the business owner Larry, told me that a cylinder, Piston and Jug in the motor were bad. Back to the beginning, note that when I brought my snowmobile in, its was for a motor problem and nothing else.

After 4 weeks of waiting, I showed up to pick up the sled and noticed that there was an antifreeze all over the engine. I asked the Mechanic why, and they promptly replied, "Its just a small leak, drive it home and top it off with antifreeze." I no sooner get about 6 miles from cycle Shack in Rome, and I noticed that the steering was not the same. I continued home, only because there was nothing I could do about it on the trail, and I was already more than half way home. When I got home I noticed that the front, left ti-rod bar was bent, so much that it was rubbing on the spring surrounding the suspension. A very visible gouge was showing on the ti-rod as if they hit something. When I opened the cowell, there was a large amount of antifreeze leaking from the head and a puddle had formed in the base of the snowmobile.

After spending almost $1000.00 on parts and labor and waiting a month, I did not want to bring the snowmobile back as the service from the company was bad the entire time they had my sled. I pulled the head of the sled to find smashed O-rings, that looked as if they melted, and smashed gaskets they were were supposed to have replaced. I purchased a used jug from them as a new one was $550.

Not even 20 miles, and one hour later, after returning home and removing the head I found that cycle Shack had overtightened the bolt on the jug. I called Cycle Shack immediately to let them know what I had found, and without letting me finish my sentence, Toby told me that it was all my fault and had to have been something I had done, because, and I quote, "Our Mechanics always tell us if they damage customer property. And I know he didnt do it." She did not even take the time to ask the mechanic if there was a possibility that he damaged the sled. The jug is not reusable and had to replace the jug yet again. Long story short, after waiting a month and paying outrages prices for a terrible rebuild, I had to turn around the following day, and pay to have the sled rebuilt again. This time, fortunately, the snowmobile is running.

I just wanted to let everyone and anyone know that if you have a problem with your snowmobile, and you plan on taking your sled to Rome, N.Y. For work, There is another Polaris dealership about 10 miles away from Cycle Shack called Schoffs Polaris. If you want good prices, and fast reliable service, I definately suggest that you take your snowmobile to Schoffs. I have brought alot of business to cycle shack over the years, and to be treated with such disrespect, and dishonesty, is simply embarrassing. Again, I have learned my lesson, dont let this happen to you!!
