Scam artists preying on accident victims

Totaled my pickup in an auto accident on Fri., 1/23/09. Tip Top Towing arrived at the scene and the driver misrepresented his service as an AAA tow truck. En route to drop me off at the nearest freeway exit, the tow driver urged me to sign and fax him the pink slip immediately and buy a used car from him. The driver received a phone call and was pitching a used car to the caller.

AAA has no record of receiving a call for this tow. The next day, Sat., Jan. 24, '09, I went to the Tip Top Towing office to pay the towing and storage to release the vehicle to a wrecking yard. Tip Top Towing refused to accept payment or release the vehicle. I returned on Wed. To pay the fees for release of the vehicle and had to argue with the Tip Top Towing clerk for 45 minutes to accept payment for services. I was refused an itemized receipt until I signed the credit card charge statement for $432.00.

Finally the clerk returned to the window with my credit card and I learned that the clerk got online and filed a lien on the truck with the DMV, stating unpaid fees as the cause and the intention to sell the vehicle at auction all I while I was standing there waiting for him to return to the window with my credit card and receipt. This is a den of sleaze-bags.
