Maryland Aircooled Performance
A.K.A. Curtis R. Fisk Left with a 1966 VW Beetle wreck!

Thank you for the limitless unanswered phone calls and e-mails. I was finally able to ascertain my vehicle from Maryland Aircooled Performance. To say the car is incomplete is an understatement and yet again a promise from Curtis was left unfulfilled.

1) Motor spruced up and running - Spruced up, bolted in, not running
2) Rebuild Transmission and specify gear ration and final drive - Trans rebuilt to my knowledge, nothing documented, not adjusted or tested due to motor not running as well.
3) Run hard brake lines - Not done
4) Rewire car - Not done
5) Install new gas tank and hard fuel line - Not done
6) Auto Glass - Never re-installed
7) Metal Work that was supposed to be complete consisted of;
New front apron
New Pans
New Heater Channel
Powdercoat Chassis
Patch front fender wells
Replace Rear Clip
Replace and Patch rear fender wells
Replace rear bump stop mounts - reweld
Fix or replace front bulkhead
Sand Down and Coat engine firewall
Replace Fender mounts - Front and Back
Pan was pretty much completed, pans welded, one heater channel installed and powdercoated. Rear Clip was repaired not completed. Bump stop mounts were never touched. Front bulkhead not touched. Front fender wells fixed. New front apron, tack welded in position but not complete. Fender Mounts were tacked. Engine firewall untouched as well. At least I had a rolling chassis to load on a trailer to come home!
8) Reconstruct front beam, install drop spindles, replace all parts with new ones (supplied) and install front disc brakes. Some items were done but the worst problem here was that a kit that encompasses drop spindles and front disc brakes were never purchased or installed
9) Lower rear end of car. This was completed, the car was dropped by a few splines in the rear, new torsion caps installed.

I had contacted the Attorney Generals office to investigate Curtis and Maryland Aircooled Performance after a year had passed and Curtis was clearly not going to finish the vehicle. As they cannot charge someone criminally they try to mitigate and mediate the process. This process requires two parties to participate and he was not willing to do this and complete the project. After losing about $5700 I was left with a car that is not close to done and now will cost much more to get completed.

There was a contract, it was not adhered to. I had paid over 65% of the bill in the beginning to help a small business owner/operator. This was my biggest mistake next to allowing him to touch my car in the first place.

My next move is to be determined.

Bottom Line: I would NOT RECOMMEND CURTIS R. FISK and MARYLAND AIRCOOLED PERFORMANCE for any service whatsoever. He has since discontinued VW restoration/fabrication for a while. He is a bait and switch, a cash and dash and should NOT BE TRUSTED for any contracted repair.
