Charging me over $800 because they said that the part cost over $600!

Over a period of a couple of weeks, I repeatedly had to take my car to C&C Tire & Auto Service in Bonita but each time, they kept saying nothing was wrong. They did nothing but stick their heads under the hood and did no actual work or diagnostic measures to the best of my knowledge. I would drive the car away from the shop and it would start pinging and jerking. On Jan. 6th, I was on the way to the store when my car really started having problems and the oil light came on. I drove immediately to C&C where they informed me they could not see me until Jan. 8th at 9am. Dennis, the ofc mgr. Looked under the hood and showed me where alot of oil had coated the back of the entire engine; but couldn't be sure of anything until Thursday, the 8th. I stopped at the store and when I came out, it wouldn't start at all so called AAA and towed my car back to C&C. From 3pm on 1/6/09 till 4:45p on 1/8/09, no one called at all to keep me informed or updated on the progress or dx of the situation with my car. I called both on 1/7/09 and then today, 1/8/09 and during that time, they had replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor, Dennis said. When I asked how much for the repair, he said it was over $800. I went in shock! When I asked why it was so, he said and I quote, "Yeah, that part cost us over $600.. Boy are they expensive".. I hung up and broke down in tears. I cried and cried because I work so hard to cover my basic living needs and didn't know how I was going to pay for this totally unexpected burden. When I recovered my wits a bit, I called a local Auto Parts store for the price of the exact same part. It was $229.. I cried some more. And then became furious that these jerks think they can take advantage of me because I am a woman. I decided to report them here and will continue to seek out justice in this situation, if I have to get the local News on this. Since my car is over 16 years old, $800 plus is just shy of what it bluebooks for as its not in great shape in other ways. Regardless of that, it's a SHAME what C&C has done to me. I am open to suggestions..
