Threatened to Keep my Car when I Refused Their Service and Called the Police on Me!

I went to Just Brakes to get my Brakes repaired for $99. They took my car apart and then told me it would cost almost $400 to repair it. I told them I could not afford that and that I did not want the repair and they said that I had signed a contract giving them permission to work on my vehicle and that they had already started working on the repair. I told them that I was not told that I had signed a contract allowing them to work on my car and that it was not explained to me that I was signing a contract to work on my car. I thought I was being given an estimate of what it would cost to repair the vehicle. They said "You should have read the contract" and refused to give me my car back. Furthermore, I was never given the contract to read. The manager, Barry, held all of the paperwork on a clipboard and had me initial it what came in the $99 repair the minute I got out of my car. He stated that they would take a look to see what all I needed done on my car. He did not explain that I was providing consent to begin work. After the workers took my car apart, I waited for the estimate. When I was told what it would cost, I told them I could not afford it. After I explained that I did not want the work done, two men then started yelling at me that I "should have read the contract" and that I had already given them consent to work on my car. I then picked up the contract off of the table to read it and told them that it was not valid because they failed to explain to me what it was. They then flipped out and said that I "stole their contract" and called the police on me for "stealing their contract". They also said that they were going to keep my car since I had "stolen their contract". Of course when the police arrived, they then agreed to give me my car back, but only after a frightening experience where four men were threatening me (a lone 5'3" 120lb female). This went on for over an hour. Just Brakes sales tactics are criminal. They are not upfront with what you are paying for and what you are signing and they used physical intimidation as well as calling the police on me to try and force me to pay for a service that I did not want. I am also afraid to drive my vehicle for fear that they tampered with my brakes in some way. Also, just for the record, a contract is between two people therefore it was just as much my contract to look at and hold as it was theirs. I did not "steal their contract" I was simply trying to understand what it was that they had me sign. When I tried to explain this to them and the fact that they need to make it clear to the customers what they are signing, that's when they got irate and called the police on me. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and would be happy to participate in a class action against Just Brakes for this scary and humiliating experience.
