Enterprise Rent A Truck ripoff

Vista CA; Brakes failed and they claim it was my fault...

I rented a 24' box truck in June. On June 30th we had it parked at our property. It was empty and on a slight incline with the parking brake set. After about 45 minutes the brakes failed and the truck rolled backwards into my brand new barn causing $2,500.00 in damage to the barn and damage to 3 of the roll up door panels.

I filed a claim with Enterprise. They inspected the truck and found a caliper bolt missing on the rear brakes and the hand/parking brake out of adjustment thus causing the brakes to fail and roll backwards.

I spent nearly four months trying to get answers out of them. Finally, a bonehead in their claims office, Jonathon E. Leigh, informed me that my claim had been denied. He admitted that the brakes were faulty and that the hand brake was out of adjustment but claimed it was my fault because I did not physically crawl under the truck and inspect the brakes when the truck was delivered.

He also proceeded to accuse me and my driver of deliberately tampering with the brakes to cover up the accident. Last year I spent over $5,000 renting trucks from Enterprise. They've lost all of my future business and I am spreading the word on what crooks they are.

We'll see what the judge says when I take them to court.
