I recently 11/23/02 took my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder to have it's oil changed at Jiffy Lube aka: Qwiky oil Change, Inc.
I only chose Jiffy Lube to save time, (with the holidays near and traffic terrible in Florida I thought it would be quicker then taking it to the Mitsubishi Dealer) The convertible top was down and when the Serviceman was exiting the car he used the corner of the windshield to pull himself up. A very large man his weight caused the windshield molding to crack & break. Charged for my oil change (no courtesy given, were sorry etc...) I was given an incident report and told to take my car for (2) estimates.

Now beinging forced to take time off from work (so much for saving time) my first stop was to the Mitsubishi Dealer. Mitsubishi told me since my car was new and under warranty, to maintain my warranty I should have the repairs done by Mitsubishi. An estimate of $240.54 was done. I told Mitsubishi that Jiffy Lube aka: Qwiky Oil Change, Inc. Told me I would need (2) estimates, they thought that was ridiculous that I would be forced to have (2) estimates since the car was brand new and should only be repaired by an authorized Mitsubishi Dealer. Luckily they happen to have the molding piece in stock. To avoid having to take more time off of work returning to the dealership a second time, I had the repair done. Total repair was $230.45.

I took my estimate and receipt of payment to show the car had been fixed, to the Jiffy Lube Center aka: Qwiky Oil Change, Inc. I was told the owner will have to review. I asked the Serviceman to tell the owner to call me if he had any questions, and that my receipt should be enough, explaining I could not take more time off of work. Two days later I received a voice message from the Jiffy Lube Serviceman that the owner would do nothing until I went to "their preferred body shop". To avoid more hassle and since I was out my $230.45 which I wanted reimbursed, I went to their preferred body shop.

More time off of work... Traffic... 10 miles from my employer... Having kept the damaged molding I presented the piece to their preferred body shop. The same $ estimate was written as Mitsubishi. Also their preferred body shop thought it odd that I was required to get (2) estimates... Perhaps the owner of Jiffy Lube aka: Qwiky Oil Change, Inc. Thought I was lying and was just giving me the run around. I took the 2nd estimate, Mitsubishi's estimate and my receipt where the car was repaired to Jiffy Lube. 7 more miles of driving... Only to meet the owner Manny an arrogant prick! Manny quickly told me that he did not care what Mitsubishi said and pointed out a small clause on the receipt where I paid for the oil change that states" Any claims for faulty workmanship must first be presented to the store manager before any refunds and/or damage reimbursement will be honored, Do not have any work performed on your vehicle without calling the store manager first if you expect reimbursement". I had never noticed this small fine print, nor did the serviceman ever point the clause out to me.

The Quality Control Incident Report had nothing on it but a brief description of the incident. Nothing that said I should not have my car repaired. I explained to the owner Manny of Jiffy Lube aka: Qwiky Oil Change, Inc that I did the repairs since the estimated cost was only $240.00 and I did not want to take more time off of work. Manny's response was sometimes we have to do things! I told him I felt he was being unreasonable requiring (2) estimates. Manny's response was to bad... Thats what his insurance requires. And he did not care what I paid he would only reimburse me what his insurance company estimated the repairs should be.

I said I do not believe this claim would be reported since it was small $230.45 and that his insurance co. Could verify the repair was done by an authorized approved Mitsubishi Dealer. Manny's response was that's none of my business.

I finally said, I just want my reimbursement of what I have paid out $230.45 so I can leave, I all ready had used (6) hours in time off of work for all the crazy running around. He finally had his office manager give me a check for $230.45.
Never once did the owner Manny say I am sorry this happened, I appreciate you taking your time, he just came across as your a pion I am rich! (owns (4) Jiffy Lube's aka: Qwiky Oil Change, Inc.) If you do not follow Manny's rules then screw you! A total prick!
