He gets the money, you probably won't get the motorcycle

Cars & Transport

I only sent him an email, no money, but I wanted to confirm what has already been written about this scam. I saw it on CraigsList Maine today. I should have been suspicious right then and there, because the ad didn't have a location (city/town) name.

By Googling a phrase in the ad, I quickly found that the same ad had been posted on CraigsList San Francisco and elsewhere, including Guam/Micronesia. The other ads were all flagged for removal. I flagged the Maine ad, and it's gone now. I only marked it as "Spam/overpost, " and not as an outright scam.

As mentioned in the previous report, I got a "canned" reply to my email. I think I'll see if GMail agrees that he's using one of their email addresses to promote his scam, and maybe get it nuked. Likewise with his Web address. (I looked at the page with Sam Spade. Seeing links to online casinos and other stuff in there doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.)
I'd rather be participating in a sting to get this cheeseball into handcuffs and a jail cell.

Caveat emptor and all that.
