Cars & Transport

I went to Chad Franklin Suzuki because of the commercials for the Test Market Surverys that were all over the news stations. I thought it couldn't be possible that something like this was happening in this area, but you hear about possibilities like this happening to other people, so I tried it. I bought a Grand Vitari. The deal was that they were to mail me a check for the difference in the payments (I was responsible for $43 a month, and they paid the rest plus gas). I asked for it in writing, and was told that first I should sign the contract for the payments, and then the deal in writing.

After I signed the contract, I was handed a piece of paper telling me that they would mail me the check for the difference, pay me a pro-rated amount of $400 for the gas, and verbally told me that i could get out of the program at any time by keeping the vehicle that they signed me up for (which I told them was not this vehicle because I couldn't afford the payments, so they said that at the end of a couple of years they would put me into a vehicle I could afford). I was terrified because I knew I couldn't pay the $554 payment if they didn't trade in six months. They told me it was no problem, and they would utilize loyalty rebates to make up the negative equity in the vehicle. They had all the issues covered.

The check for the amount I was promised was wrong, and i contacted them. They made it right. So for the next few months I worried about the trade in. The Grand Vitara wasn't really the vehicle I wanted as it had bad gas mileage, and i really didn't feel good about driving something that had bad gas mileage.

So in February, I went back to Chad Franklin. For the next six weeks I called or emailed them almost daily, asking about the program. Finally I dealt with the GM of the place (and their name had changed to Legend Suzuki) and he had one of his men call me and tell me how sorry they were, but they couldn't work with me. They told me it was my credit. Well nothing in my credit had changed. If anything, my credit was better. They refused to deal with me. They told me that they couldn't get a finance company to finance the vehicles with the negative equity added to the cost. I said, you promised to utilize loyalty rebates for the negative equity. They said no.

I knew i could not afford the payments they put me in.initially I had no opportunity to haggle about the price because I was in the program, and as a result paid too much for the vehicle. And now I was going to lose this vehicle. I have to have a vehicle to work, as I use it every day in my business. I had also just taken in my elderly mother who was recovering from colon cancer surgery and is now developing heart problems. They did not care about any of this. So I bought another car at another dealer.

Then I called American Suzuki. American Suzuki called the dealership and of course the dealership lied to American Suzuki and told them that they were working on a deal for me. Then I told them that I had bought another car, and I needed them to reverse or unwind the deal. They refused.

They falsely advertised a program that was just a way to get me to purchase a vehicle they knew I could not afford and would eventually lose. The reason they did this was because of greed. They lied to me straight faced, and I can imagine laughed at me as i walked out the door. Just so they could make a profit, they ruined my chance of a financial future, because I will end up paying for this until I retire negating any chance of saving much more for my retirement.
