Lied about financing rates, never stood behind what they agreed too LIARS!

Cars & Transport

On Saturday October 6th I went to Asheville Ford. I filled out the credit application for a 2007 Ford Explorer. At the time that I took the vehicle for a test drive I told the salesman that I had a bankruptcy but that I had gotten approved with Ford in 2004 for an Explorer. He stated no problem and ask if I had my discharge papers in case they needed them. I told him I did. Myself and my mother took the vehicle for a test drive and to pick up my daughter and grab lunch while the credit application was being ran.

Upon returning to the dealership, I was told that I had been approved for an interest rate of 2.9%. I ask twice are you sure and was told yes! I even told the salesman I would not sign unless I was guaranteed it was approved at 2.9%. The sales manager (Dale) even came in and shook my hand and said it was a DONE DEAL. At this point I signed the contract and ALL the papers to complete the sale.

I drove the vehicle home and returned on Monday Oct. 8 to have the vehicle detailed. I returned again on Oct. 10 to pay the $1000.00 down that was suppose to be the taxes and tags. When I mentioned it to Chad (the financial person) that these fees were included in the financing he kind of brushed it off and said not really and left it at that. This is two trips to the dealer and NOT one word to me that there might be an issue! They even took my cash for the down payment/taxes & tags.

On Monday Oct. 15 I receive a call around 5:15 from a guy named Joe. He stated that I needed to come in sign the rest of the papers for the car. When I ask what papers are you talking about, he never would say other than very hateful and rude that "you need to come in and sign these papers this evening! So we can get our money" My daughter and I went to the dealership around 5:45 and was meet my Joe who was not nice at all. He took us to the financial office and proceeded to lay a contract out for me to sign. I ask what was going on. He said that Ford had came back and would not approve me at 2.9% and that Chad had worked really hard at getting me the 5.9%. On the new contract they had not included GAP insurance which was on the "other" contract. I told him no way, I had already been approved and signed the contract and refused to sign the contract. He was really upset that I would not sign. I told him I would be back in the morning.

Not once did I ever get a call from Chad or anyone stating there was issues going on and there might be a problem. To me this is very dishonest practice. To me they assumed they had me and I would HAVE to sign or else... I was told by Joe that it was Ford Motor Credit who changed

I called Tuesday morning Oct. 16 and spoke with the Internet Customer Relations Manager. After several calls back and forth was told that the Sales Manager was gone to the auction, but she would have someone call me. Finally at 9:55 I called back and she told me she was with a customer and she would call be back in 5 mins. At 10:25 I get a call from Steve (Financial Manager) so I just told him again what I had told the Customer Relations Manager and stated that I wanted my trade in back. I had never heard of such and felt I was getting a very bad deal. He calls back and informs me my trade in had been slated to go to auction that morning and they could not find all the keys, but they would pay to have 2 new ones keyed. Then I get a call back stating they had found them.

All in all I have not been treated fair in this at all. There has been a lot of undue stress and aggravation in this. Not once did I deal with the Sales Manager who approved this on Saturday or Chad the financial person. I dealt with Joe the Used Car Manager (very rude), The Internet Customer Relations Manager or Steve who when I went in to drop the car off and pick my car up proceeded to try and "sell" the contract and juggle numbers to make it look like they were giving me $3000 off the car which the price of the car NEVER CHANGED. The amount of trade in they were allowing me went up by $1000. Yet again the wheels of getting "screwed" where rolling even up till the end! I had to go back on Wednesday Oct. 17 to pick up my refund check.

Friday November 2- I just got off the phone with speaking to Debbie at Ford Motor Credit and was told all they do is approve the deal. The quotes and special deals come from the manufacturer. I called Ford Motor (1-800-693-6738) and was told by Patricia that it was all on the dealership, they had nothing to do with the guidelines etc. She offered to let me file a complaint but she stated it really was on the dealership! I have spoken with people from the Credit Area to people in the marketing area and still have no real answers as to what happened or how you can approve at one rate and then "change' your mind and up the interest rate other than the fact every person told me the same thing—it is the DEALERSHIP.
