Wasco Auto Care
Owner said no way to oil filter falling off as I looked at it laying on my driveway

Cars & Transport

I had my car serviced by Wasco Auto Care for an oil change and a tire rotation. After this service I drove the car approxiately 8 miles before arriving at home. Later in the evening I left my home in my Geo and soon after my engine started smoking and immediately stalled.

After inspection of the vehicle I noticed that the oil filter was missing and that there was no oil in my engine. After further investigation I found that the oil filter had fallen off my vehicle and was laying on the side of my driveway. After putting all the pieces together it became obvious that the oil filter fell off my vehicle as I left my home that evening. I called Mr. Frank Devin, owner and manager of Wasco Auto Care, and explained the situation. Mr. Devin told me there was no way that the oil filter could have come off. He told me that he wanted to talk to his mechanic. I told him I would call him the next day.

Later that night, after some research on the internet, it became clear that the oil filter that fell off was an improper oil filter for my vehicle - a Max Lub M4622. The proper oil filter was a Max Lub M4477. This was verified by an independent parts dealer.

I called Mr. Devin the next day. I asked him if he had talked to his mechanic like he said he would. He said he was not in the shop. I asked him if he could give me the number of the filter they should have used for my car. He said his computer system was down and then he hung up on me. I called him back, he answered and I left my cell number with him and asked him to call me the following Monday. He didn't call me that Monday so I tried to call him 2 times and no answer. The third time I called I left him a message asking him to call me to talk about this matter. He has not called me back.By his complete disregard of this matter, lack of responsibility, defensiveness towards me and refusal to communicate with me not only did they use the wrong filter but I suspect that they intentionaly used the wrong filter. I suspect that they did not have the proper oil filter in stock and instead thought they could get away with using the M4622.

This guy is a criminal and will treat YOU like one. Stay away - stay farrrrrrrrrrr away.
