Oh, we just serviced this today for you... It's in

I bought a bike there 2 weeks ago, that they had "just adjusted the carb, replaced the air and oil filters, should have no problem with emissions, but we can't guarantee it."

They don't have to guarantee the emissions, because they're running their repair shop as a consignment shop. "Amazingly" my bike didn't pass emissions. Alex's would be happy to fix it, for $55/hr plus parts. I took it to my own mechanic instead of back to Alex's, and boy am I glad I did.

Apparently it not only needed a new air filter and oil change, the carb was filthy and poorly adjusted, the bike needed a valve adjustment, and the compression was low. Yes folks, I bought this bike from a motorcycle repair shop. Obviously they were counting on getting the extra $300 out of me when I brought it back to get it "fixed".

If I were running a repair shop, I would be embarassed to the point of devastation to sell a bike in the condition this one was in. To those of you who will say "I should have known better" well, you're right. But it's my first bike, and from now on I certainly will.

Do with this info what you will, but Alex's Motorcycles will never see another dime from me!
